The Phenomenal Handclap Band swingle and dates

The Phenomenal Handclap Band swingle and dates Tummy Touch proudly presents Baby, the brand new release from The Phenomenal Handclap Band and the second single from their breakthrough self-titled album that hit the UK last summer.

For those unaware, The Phenomenal Handclap Band PHB are a tightly knit 8-piece band 7-piece touring band consisting of musicians and artists from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York. Their debut LP, a mixture of progressive rock, disco, electro and psychedelia was released in July 2009, winning them rave reviews, both as recording artists and as a live act, and for good reason The first time you see PHB live you realise youre not only in the midst of something really quite out of the ordinary, but youre witnessing a band with a gift. A gift to make you dance, smile and fill you with a life-affirming happiness thats hard to accurately describe with words; theyre a very special band.

Built on friendship, PHB started life with production/DJ partners Daniel Collas and Sean Marquand, who started writing their own songs whilst simultaneously producing other artists records. With their involvement in a thriving New York nightlife scene, the partners had an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of esoteric music ranging from Brazilian soul to vintage psych-rock & proto-disco, along with a wide range of musician friends who helped them cultivate their vision for their own album. Patrick Wood, Luke Riverside, Laura Marin, Bing Ji Ling, Pier Pappalardo and Joan Tick joined to officially form the band in 2008.

With the album and their first single 15 to 20 ruling both the airwaves and the dancefloors in the second half of last year, now is the time for the next move and in Baby they have their ace in the pack. Illustrating diversity and a wide range of sound, this second single shows a new side of PHB with their passion for funk and soul in all its varieties coming to the surface in this truly beautiful song. Sounding like a long-lost classic of the past, PHB continue to apply their magic, combining nostalgia with modern ideas and distinctively sounding like no one else in music today.

Backed up with a beautifully floaty, sun-drenched remix from Virgil Howe, expect to hear a lot more of this song over from now right through till the summer.
